Doug Conrod is Managing Director of G2 Capital Markets. Prior to joining G2, he spent five years as a Managing Director at Guggenheim Capital Markets, where he was instrumental in growing the structured fixed-income sales and trading business, particularly in the areas of structured aircraft and equipment trust finance, franchise loan finance and US Government energy savings performance contract finance. During his tenure at Guggenheim, annual revenues grew from $14 million to $220 million across the entire capital markets business. In 2000, Mr. Conrod became the first employee and partner at Vertical Crossing, a start-up ETN trading platform focused on structured mortgage-backed securities. The platform’s technology was ultimately sold to a public mortgage REIT and the sales and trading business sold to a division of Société Générale. From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Conrod was a sales-trader specializing in non-dollar fixed-income instruments and emerging market debt at HSBC and Société Générale. He was intimately involved during the Asian, Russian and LTCM crises of 1997-1998, playing a key role in working out the banks’ secured loans with Russian banks, protecting their portfolios as well as aiding the auctions to wind down LTCM’s positions. Mr. Conrod began his career on the fixed-income trading desk of JP Morgan in 1993. He graduated with a B.A. in History from St. Lawrence University, and earned his M.B.A., with honors, from Columbia Business School.
